Familjen Maschio brukar kallas ”The Dynasty of Distillers” och är en berömd grappafamilj i Italien. Under 1800-talet var familjen kringresande destillatörer som med primitiv destilleringsutrustning reste runt från gård till gård och erbjöd sig ta hand om druvresterna. Efter svåra år med fattigdom och landsflykt slog Antonio Maschio sig ned i Gaiarine norr om Venedig och grundade 1903 ett fast destilleri, vilket sedan gått i arv från far till son. 1973 invigde sonsonen Bonaventura Maschio ett hypermodernt vineri som komplement till familjens destilleri. Snabbt blev Maschio ett stort och aktat vinvarumärke. I dag är deras prosecco, chardonnay och pinot rosa marknadsledare i Italien och storsäljare i flera länder. Maschio dei cavalieri odlar inget eget vin utan förädlar vinet från utvalda odlare i Dolomiterna. I dag ansvarar Bonaventura Maschios son Italo för verksamheten tillsammans med sina barn Anna och Andrea.
